No matter how long you’ve been playing golf, you probably want to improve some aspect of your game. Hone your skills and meet some fellow golfers when you sign up for a group program—we offer a range of golf clinics for adults and juniors. Or book a private lesson with one of Fairwinds’ teaching pros for personalized instruction that’s tailored to your unique goals, abilities, and swing.

Maximum of 8 participants per instructor and a minimum of 3 students. Classes are held rain or shine so come prepared for the weather. Equipment is available for use if needed. All lessons are led by a PGA of Canada instructor.

Rookies (ages 5-7 years)
$70 per 4-week session (includes four 45-minute lessons)

Your child will learn the FUNdamental skills of golf from one of our PGA of Canada instructor. Key concepts taught include grip, stance, posture, alignment and balance for both the full swing and the short game.

At this stage, children are developmentally ready to acquire the general sports skills that are the cornerstones of all athletic development. Your child is going to learn the key concepts, grip, stance, posture, alignment and balance for both the full swing and the short game.

Junior Summer Golf Camp (ages 8-13 years)
$140 per 3-day session (includes three 2.5-hour lessons)

During this camp your child will learn the techniques on the practice facility and then apply them on the golf course, supervised by a PGA of Canada instructor. Children will be playing about 3 holes every day and then practice their skills at the driving range.

Meet Our Golf Instructors

Head of Instruction at Fairwinds

Hélène Delisle

Head of Instruction

Hélène Delisle, PGA of Canada Class “A” member and Head of Instruction at Fairwinds, started playing golf at the age of six. She has been teaching golf since 2000, and enjoys working with players at all skill levels.

Hélène believes that every golfer can improve their game, and that knowledge, preparation and the proper individual analysis of a student’s game are the keys to good instruction. A graduate of the Professional Golf Management program at Collège Laflèche in Trois-Rivières, QC, she has completed all four levels of the PGA of Canada Teaching Certification Program and the National Coaching Certification Program Level 1.

Hélène has been playing golf tournaments since 1990 and is the only female professional who has won on the Vancouver Island Professional Golf Tour with a score of 69 (-2) in 2007. She also has been playing on the Canadian Women’s Tour since 2004 and was named Teacher of the Year for the Vancouver Island region in 2015.

Fairwinds Golf Professional

Jeff has played golf at a provincial and national level, representing British Columbia and recording a top-ten finish at the Canadian Mid-Amateur. He has been working in the golf industry since 1999 and has gained valuable experience during that time. Jeff has taught people at many skill levels, showing them techniques and strategies that result in immediate progress. His numerous certifications and his fun, easy-going attitude contribute to his success as a coach. Whether you’re a beginner hoping to learn the fundamentals of golf or you’re an advanced golfer hoping to shave a few strokes off your handicap.

Ryner Wilson

Golf Shop Manager

Ryner grew up in Qualicum Beach and began playing tournaments at a young age, eventually earning a golf scholarship to Vancouver Island University, where he played as the golf team captain for four years, winning the BCCAA individual and team title, and competing in high-level tournaments such as the BC Men’s Amateur and the Canadian Men’s Amateur. 

Ryner has worked at Fairwinds Golf Club since 1993 and became a golf professional in 2011. He is passionate about all aspects of the game and is devoted to making the game enjoyable. The key to his teaching philosophy is to instill strong basic fundamentals with positive reinforcement, and he especially enjoys working with new golfers.
